This article describes step-by-step how to set up a new email account on a Mac. First, open the settings in the Mail app and add a new account by selecting "Other Mail Account." Then enter your name, email address, and password, and choose between POP or IMAP. After the automatic search for account settings, set the IMAP path prefix to "INBOX," and make sure the port and SSL encryption are correct. Finally, configure the SMTP server and ensure SSL and port 465 are enabled. If you encounter problems, it is recommended to contact support by email at support@metanet.ch.

How it works:

- Confirm that you accept the costs for the Premium Service.
- We will send you suggested appointment times for the setup via TeamViewer.
Important: Please make sure that TeamViewer is installed on your device before the appointment.
1. In the menu list under Mail, open Preferences …
2. Click on Accounts at the top and then on the “+” sign at the bottom left:
3. Select Other Mail Account as the provider:
4. Enter your name, your email address, and the corresponding password:
5. Choose POP or IMAP (here is the difference)
6. The account settings will now be searched. This may take a little longer. Please wait until the following window appears and select Mail:
7. Navigate again via Mail – Preferences – Account to the account you just created and click on Advanced. Set the IMAP path prefix to INBOX. If necessary, correct the Port as well as (optionally) the SSL encryption and set the Authentication to Password. Also, uncheck the box for Automatically detect and maintain account settings.
8. Under the Account Information tab, click under SMTP Server on the Server Name and then on Edit SMTP Server List:
9. Select the outgoing mail server and go to Advanced. Remove the checkmark for Automatically detect and maintain account settings. Enable Use SSL and enter Port 465. Please verify that under Authentication it says Password and that your full email address is entered as the username along with the corresponding password.
