This article describes step-by-step how to set up an email account in Outlook 2010. First, it explains how to add an account and manually configure the server settings. The user must choose between POP3 and IMAP and enter their account information. Then, additional settings such as SMTP server authentication and SSL encryption are required. How it works:
- Contact us by email at support@metanet.ch.
- Confirm that you accept the costs for the Premium Service.
- We will send you suggested appointment times for the setup via TeamViewer.
Important: Please make sure that TeamViewer is installed on your device before the appointment.
- Select Add Account under File in the menu bar.
- Enable Manually configure server settings or additional server types.
- Select Internet E-mail.
- Choose POP3 or IMAP (here is the difference) and enter your account details in the next step. Then click More Settings.
- In the Outgoing Server tab, enable My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- In the Advanced tab, select SSL as the type of encrypted connection to use and enter Port 465 for the outgoing server (SMTP). Set the root folder path to INBOX.
- Check your account settings by clicking Test Account Settings...
- If the test is successful, you can finish by clicking OK and Finish. The new account is now set up.
