To access the settings of a database user, select Databases from the menu and then choose User Management. In the following menu, click on the user you want to edit.
- Change Password
- Allow Access to All Databases in the Subscription
- User Permissions
- Enable User for External Access
Change Password
There are 2 options to change the password.
Generate Password
The easiest way is to have the password generated for you. This ensures the creation of a secure password. To do this, click on Generate. To view the password, select Show. Then save the new password by clicking the OK button.
Set Password Manually
With this option, it is important that your chosen password complies with our security policy.
To set the password, enter the same value in the fields New Password and Confirm Password. Complete the process by clicking OK.
Allow Access to All Databases in the Subscription
If you want to use one user for multiple databases, you can enable the user for all databases in the subscription. To do this, change the value for Database from a specific database name to Any.
Save the setting by clicking OK.
User Permissions
You can select the permissions for the database user based on the role.
The available roles are “Read and Write,” “Read Only,” “Write Only,” and “Custom.”
Click on “Show Permissions” to get a detailed view of the assigned permissions.
Enable User for External Access
If you want to use an external program to manage your database, access must be enabled.
For your own security, we recommend allowing remote connections only in this case. If you only work with phpMyAdmin, Allow local connections only is sufficient. Please only allow the IP address(es) and networks that you know. To do this, select Allow remote connections from and enter the IP address(es) and/or network in the field. If you do not know the value to enter, the network administrator in your office can provide information. You can also see your public IP address using our links: http://ip.metanet.ch/
After entering the settings, save by clicking OK.
