The system migration includes hardware renewal to enhance performance and software updates to ensure operational reliability. A manual basic configuration is necessary because the system cannot be cloned. For larger migrations, customers should plan approximately 4-6 hours for support. After receiving the order, METANET performs the basic installation and initial data synchronization. During the migration, data synchronization and system switching take place, followed by a functionality check. Customers are encouraged to quickly perform their own checks to promptly resolve any issues.
Initial Situation
A system migration fundamentally serves to renew hardware to increase performance and/or ensure system stability, as well as to update software components to guarantee operational security.
Precautions
Since a migration also implies an update of the operating system or distribution version, the system cannot be cloned; that is, the basic configuration must be manually performed based on the current state of the source server.
For larger system migrations (shared hosting systems), the Managed Server customer must consider a personnel effort of approximately 4-6 hours to support end customers. Any complications that arise can thus be addressed without delay in close cooperation with METANET.
Procedure
After receipt of the written migration order and review of the current state, METANET carries out the basic installation of the new system. Shortly thereafter, an initial data synchronization is performed.
At the time of migration, further data synchronization and switching to the new system take place. The subsequent functionality check covers basic operations according to internal guidelines. However, METANET depends on the customer performing their own checks as quickly as possible so that any issues that arise can be resolved promptly.
