This article describes the administration of a File Drive instance, which is exclusively reserved for the primary user. It explains how additional users and administrators can be added, the use of a custom domain, encryption options for libraries, storage management, data backup, and the importance of weekly maintenance windows. It also covers login protection mechanisms and the possibility of customizing the web interface colors. Important technical details, such as setting up CNAME records and the necessity of securely storing the encryption key, are also discussed.

General Information
The system administration area is exclusively available to the primary user of the File Drive instance.
Add Additional Users
New users can be added via the system administration area.
To do this, navigate in the web interface via your user icon to System Administration.
Then, under the "Users" > "Add" section, a new user can be added.
After filling out and saving the new user's information, the user is created. However, the login credentials must be manually communicated to the user if needed.
Add Additional Admin
An existing user can be defined as an administrator via the System Administrators section.
To do this, navigate in the web interface via your user icon to System Administration.
Use Custom Domain
To use a custom domain, a CNAME record must be created for it pointing to the hostname of your File Drive instance.
drive.exampledomain.com. IN CNAME contractnumber.drive.pro.io.
Please inform us afterward so that we can update the configuration of your File Drive instance accordingly.
After activating the new domain, all users must access the system exclusively via this address. Existing client accesses must be adjusted accordingly.
Encryption
When creating libraries, there is an option to encrypt them. Please note that the key or password used is not stored on the server. If you lose this key, your data CANNOT be restored. Encryption can only be defined for an entire library, not for a subfolder. Active encryption cannot be undone.
More information about the encryption used can be found from the manufacturer at the following address:
https://manual.seafile.com/11.0/security/security_features/
Storage Usage / Cleanup
The overall storage usage is visible in the administration menu below the username.
Information about storage cleanup can be found here.
Data Backup
METANET ensures that in the event of a server failure, a daily emergency backup of the entire File Drive installation is available. Individual files cannot be restored due to the architecture of the system used.
We recommend using versioning. How to use it can be read at https://support.metanet.ch/822#versionierung.
Weekly Maintenance Windows
To keep the File Drive environment up to date, the following maintenance windows are scheduled:
- Tuesdays 10:00 PM - 12:00 AM
- Fridays 10:00 PM - 12:00 AM
- Saturdays 10:00 PM - 12:00 AM
During this time, various maintenance tasks, such as applying security updates, are performed. We expect about 3-4 maintenance windows per year that may cause a short interruption (e.g., required system restart) of the environment.
Login Protection Mechanisms Web Interface
By default, File Drive displays a captcha if a user has tried to log in to the web interface 5 times with incorrect username or password information.
As an administrator, you can adjust this setting as desired in the settings.
In the web interface, you have the option to set up custom CSS for the appearance.
A practical generator for this is available on the following external website:
