METANET Remote Maintenance offers root server customers centralized management and user administration functions, including server installation, full access (power on/off, BIOS), and error notifications. Management is done through a web-based interface that enables remote access and installation of Linux distributions. A system reboot can be performed via the Remote Control menu. For installing Linux distributions, the ISO is mounted via "Virtual Media," and a reboot can change the boot order. Firmware updates are the responsibility of the system administrator.
METANET Remote Maintenance provides the following basic functions.
- Central management interface – location-independent
- Server installation from the local workstation via drive redirection
- Full access to the server (power on/off, BIOS, etc.)
- Central user management, access control
- Error notifications via email or SNMP
Below is an overview of common work steps:
The access data (IP address and user credentials) can be found in your root server setup confirmation.

Reboot
A system reboot can be performed via the menu Remote Control -> Power Control or alternatively via the Start/Summary page.
Console Access
Remote access via console can also be initiated via the Start/Summary page. This will open the corresponding Java applet. If the console is not accessible, please perform a "Unit Reset" via the "Maintenance" menu and then try again.
Installation/Repair of Linux Distributions
For installation/reinstallation of the desired distribution, the "Virtual Media" function is available. Together with our Image Installer, you mount the desired ISO.
Path: Virtual Media -> CD-ROM Image
1. ISO Selection
The first step is to define the installation file of the desired distribution.
An overview of currently available ISOs on our Image Installer can be found at: http://install.sui-inter.net
If IP Access Control is active, the ISO cannot be mounted. Temporarily disable IP Access Control until the installation is complete.
| Share host | 80.74.155.175 |
| Path to image | Example: \ISO\centos\7\CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1511.iso |
| User (optional) | |
| Password (optional) |
2. Mounting the ISO
After saving the settings, the ISO can now be loaded with "Mount."
The status of Device2 will then change upon successful mount from
Device2 Status No disk emulation set.
to
Device2 Status There is a disk mounted.
.
3. System Reboot
The system can now be rebooted so that the loaded ISO can boot.
The boot order can be changed either once via F11 or in the BIOS (F4 on Remote Keyboard).
For system installation, we generally recommend using text mode.
After successful installation, you should unmount the ISO and adjust the boot order accordingly if necessary.
Firmware Update
Firmware updates are the responsibility of the system administrator. You can obtain the firmware at http://www.supermicro.com/support/resources/bios_ipmi.php?vendor=1
The installed motherboard can be read via dmidecode. Example:
Manufacturer: Supermicro
Product Name: X8DTL
