This article describes three options for managing domains. The "Website Hosting Option" allows storing website documents on a web server. The "Redirect Option" enables redirecting a domain to another website, with various types such as permanent (301) or temporary (302). A frame redirect displays content from another site while keeping the original domain in the address bar. The "No Web Hosting Option" is chosen when no website is to be operated, for example, for email-only domains, with the root folder path being deleted.

Website Hosting Option
With this option, you instruct the web server that the documents for a website are also stored under this domain. Physical hosting is always visible in the Plesk administration tool based on the document root (in this case /httpdocs):
Redirect Option
A redirect is used when another domain name should point to an existing website. Enter the target address and select the desired type of redirect:
Note that a redirect is not the same as an alias.
If you want to set up a domain as an alias, we provide a separate guide here.
Moved Permanently (Code 301)
Redirects to the target address and displays the target address in the browser's address bar.
In this specific example, the user would be immediately redirected from hans-muster.ch to sandra-muster.ch, which would also be visible in the browser's address bar.
Google will index the new domain and thus include it in the search engine.
Temporarily Moved (Code 302)
If you want the redirect only temporarily, that is, only for a certain period (e.g., during maintenance), to another website/domain (HTTP 302), select the temporary redirect. Visitors are redirected to the new website, but the target domain/temporary website is not indexed by search engines.
Frame Redirect
Frame means window frame in English, and like looking through an open window, this function allows displaying content from another website. The address of the redirected domain remains in the browser's address bar.
However, many websites prevent being displayed in an iframe. In this case, the browser will only show a blank page, and another redirect type must be selected.
No Web Hosting Option
You can use this option if no website is to be operated on this domain. This may be the case if the domain is used exclusively for email.
Please note that the root folder path for the associated domain will be completely deleted if this option is activated.
