This article describes how to create and manage an email account, including logging into email administration, creating accounts and aliases, changing passwords, and setting up autoresponders. It also explains how to delete an account and configure the spam filter. The spam filter can be customized to identify and handle emails as spam, including the use of white and blacklists. The guide provides detailed steps and notes for configuring the various email management options.

Login Email Administration
Log in to manage email accounts in the Email Administration. There are two “access” options for login:
- You can log in with your domain and the associated password to view and manage all accounts.
- You can log in with your email address and the corresponding password to view and manage only this account. When logged in with your email address, you also have the option to change your password, set up automatic forwarding, or activate the autoresponder.
Create Account
Below the overview of all email accounts, you have the command New Mailbox, with which a new account can be created.
Fill out the form as follows:
- Username: desired email address (e.g., webstyle.test, see image above)
- User information: the designation of the account (e.g., Test Account). This field is optional.
- Password: desired password
- Forwarding: you can enter an internal email address (of the same domain, e.g., @freehost.ch) to which the emails should be forwarded.
- Forwarding: you can enter an external email address to which the emails should be forwarded.
After confirming by clicking Save, the email account configuration is completed.
Create Alias (Forwarding)
If you want an alias address (without a mailbox) instead of a dedicated account for an email address, set it up as follows:
Click on New Forwarding Address
Fill out the form as follows:
- Username: desired email address (e.g., testibus, see image above)
- User information: the designation of the alias address. This field is optional.
- Password: not necessary, since it is not an account. There will be no mailbox for this address because it is only a “forwarding.” Where there is no account, no login is possible and therefore no password is required.
- Forwarding: you can enter an internal email address (of the same domain, e.g., @freehost.ch) to which the emails should be forwarded.
- Forwarding or Forwarding 2: you can enter an external email address to which the emails should be forwarded.
By clicking Save, the forwarding configuration is confirmed and completed.
According to the example above, all emails sent to testibus@freehost.ch will be directly forwarded to leandraott@hotmail.com.
Add Forwarding Later
Should all emails of a certain email address (account or alias - e.g., webstyle.test@freehost or testibus@freehost) be forwarded to additional email addresses?
For this, click Edit on the corresponding email account or alias and enter the desired target address under Forwarding.
After confirming by clicking Save, the forwarding will be saved.
Change Password
Click Edit on the corresponding email account and enter your new password in each of the two “Password” fields.
After confirming by clicking Save, the new password will be saved.
Create and Manage Autoresponder
By clicking Autoresponder, you can create and manage the automatic reply for the respective email account:
Once activated, the autoresponder is immediately active.
The autoresponder can also be activated and deactivated using time control:
If you activate this autoresponder, it will be set according to your preferences. Example: You are absent from 07/10/2020 through 08/01/2020, then you must enter 07/10/2020 as the start date and 08/01/2020 as the end date! The autoresponder switches off exactly on the end date. For the timed responder, you must deactivate the autoresponder above.
Note: If you want to activate the autoresponder now and deactivate it at a specific time, then activate both. You only enter the end date, but no start date.
Delete Account
- To delete an email account, click Delete on the corresponding email account.
- Confirm the deletion by clicking Delete again in the newly opened window.
Configure Spam Filter
Click Spam Filter on the corresponding email account to activate and configure the filter. The following window will open:
-
Username: Affected email account
-
Spam Detection: This is the activation switch for the spam filter.
-
Number of Spam Points Required: Each incoming email is analyzed by the spam filter for spam-typical characteristics. Accordingly, points are assigned. With this option, you can determine from how many "penalty points" an email should be defined as spam. The lower the number, the stricter the filtering, meaning more emails will be classified as spam.
Note: Decimal points can also be entered. These must be entered with a period (e.g., 4.5 | 3.7) and not with a comma. If numbers are entered with a comma, the filter will use the default value 5 instead of the desired value.
-
Delete all emails classified as spam immediately: If this function is activated, all emails recognized as spam will be deleted. If the function is deactivated, all emails recognized as spam will be normally sent to the respective email address. The subject line will then begin with the note "****SPAM****".
-
Forward spam to the following address: If an email address is entered here, all emails recognized as spam will be forwarded to this address.
Note: If you forward all intercepted spam emails to one address, please be aware that the mailbox will fill up quite quickly. A monthly check is therefore recommended. Empty your spam mailbox to avoid exceeding storage space. -
Whitelist: Here you can enter email addresses of senders whose emails should never be classified as spam. By entering “*@domain.ch” all emails sent from addresses of the respective domain will never be classified as spam.
- Blacklist: Here you can enter email addresses of senders whose emails should always be classified as spam. By entering “*@domain.ch” all emails sent from addresses of the respective domain will always be classified as spam.
