The storage limit for incoming and outgoing emails is 50 MB and cannot be adjusted. Due to the encoding of file attachments, which takes up about 1/3 of the message size, attachments should not be larger than 34 MB. The maximum email size may vary with other providers. The storage limit per mailbox corresponds to the total storage limit of the subscription and can be adjusted. The mail server is not suitable for long-term data storage; messages should be regularly retrieved and saved locally. If needed, support can be contacted to increase mailbox limits.
Maximum Size per Message
The storage limit for incoming and outgoing emails is 50 MB. This setting is global and cannot be adjusted. The email protocol is not suitable for larger data volumes; in such cases, FTP or another appropriate solution should generally be used.
Please note that the maximum message size is not the same as the size of a file you want to send as an attachment. File attachments are encoded. This increases the size of the attachments as well as the MIME header data.
This encoding roughly takes up 1/3 of the email message. Therefore, the attachment should not be larger than 34 MB.
Furthermore, please note that the maximum email size at METANET is 50 MB. For other providers, it may be lower.
Storage Space per Mailbox
The storage limit per mailbox is by default set to the total storage limit of the subscription, allowing the limit per mailbox to be adjusted independently.
Please note: The mail server is not suitable for storing data over a long period. Mailboxes should be regularly accessed, and messages stored on them should be deleted from the server upon retrieval and saved locally.
If your mailbox has a limit that is too low and you cannot increase it yourself, please contact our support to request an increase.
